2020 CONFERENCE POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

Add some more info about this item...

Dear LIWOCA 2020 Attendee, Sponsor, and/or Speaker:

As you may have heard, the World Health Organization has now officially declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic. In light of this development, the LIWOCA Board has decided to postpone the upcoming LIWOCA 2020 Conference and Gala, which was set to occur March 18-20, 2020 in Atlanta, GA.  All 2020 Conference sponsorships and associated benefits will be honored and recognized at the time the Conference is re-scheduled, which we hope will be in 2020 and, if not then, in 2021.  We will also honor any attendees’ paid registration fees for the Conference, which will be applied in full to the re-scheduled date, without any deductions or penalties.  All speakers will be contacted, once a new date is determined.

Finally, for some good news--despite the postponement of the 2020 conference, LIWOCA is committed to its scholars and we are excited to share that we will be awarding scholarships to the following law students:

Nadia Lee

Boston University School of Law, 3L

Charlene Minatee

University of Pennsylvania Law School, 2L

Brittney Martinez

Temple University Beasley School of Law, 2L

Samantha Santiago

DePaul University College of Law 2L

Please remember to cancel your hotel bookings, if any at The Ritz, by this Friday, March 13th, so as to not incur any late cancellation penalties, as the Ritz-Carlton is aware of our postponement.

Many thanks to all of you for your support in our journey.

Be well and hope to see you all in the not too distant future!

Best,

Anandhi Rajan

President & Chair of LIWOCA 2020

Urban Life

What an amazing journey!  In 2006 the ABA published, “Visible Invisibility,” a disturbing report detailing the massive exodus of women of color attorneys from their law firms and in many cases, the legal profession.

As a result of that report, LIWOCA was born and launched annual conferences motivating, educating, inspiring and training women of color attorneys and providing business development and networking opportunities, essential to ensure their success as leaders in the profession.

It is a joy and a privilege to meet, year after year, so many talented shareholders, corporate general counsels, partners, judges and government officials from every corner of the United States who selflessly share their

expertise and guidance as well as encouragement to the LIWOCA attendees to help them rise to the pillars of the profession.

Join us for our 2020 conference where we will celebrate 15 years of serving women of color attorneys, providing scholarships to outstanding law students, and fueling the pipeline with our support of the High School Pipeline Project.
